The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died while tandem hang-gliding in the Fraser Valley on April 28.
The woman was Lenami Dafne Godinez, aged 27, of Vancouver.
Godinez was attempting her first hang-gliding flight as part of a tandem flight with a second person. Shortly after taking off at about 1 p.m. from Mount Woodside in Harrison Mills - a popular location for hang-gliding in the Fraser Valley - something went wrong and Godinez was witnessed falling from the glider to the ground below. She was found by a search and rescue team at about 7:30 p.m.
The Coroners Service is continuing its investigation into the death in conjunction with the RCMP.
The Coroners Service expresses our sympathy to Godinez's family and friends, and also our appreciation to the search-and-rescue teams and volunteers who worked so diligently on the rescue and recovery efforts.
