Minister of Justice and Attorney General Shirley Bond announced today that new video and witness information in the Boyd case will be investigated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
Bond directed the assistant deputy minister of Police Services Division to work with all parties, including the Vancouver Police Department and the Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner, to ensure that an independent outside agency take on the investigation into the new evidence that was brought to light in the fatal police shooting of Paul Boyd in August, 2007.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General Shirley Bond -
"It is essential that British Columbians have confidence in their police. This is a very sensitive case, which is why we have asked the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, an experienced, independent investigative agency, to consider the case in light of new information. I know that the Vancouver Police Department agrees that this matter be investigated externally and will fully co-operate with the ASIRT investigation."
