The BC Coroners Service has announced that the inquest into the death of Sheilah Lorraine Sweatman will now be held Nov. 19-23, 2012, at the courthouse in Nelson.
The inquest was scheduled to begin on June 4, 2012. However, a delay was found to be necessary to ensure availability of all required witnesses, as well as counsel for parties with standing.
The November dates are the earliest available in which courtroom space is available and all participants foresee they can attend.
Ms. Sweatman, aged 29, was performing a recovery operation with the Swift Water Rescue division within the Nelson Search and Rescue unit when she died in Creston on June 29, 2011.
An inquest is a formal process that allows for public presentation of evidence relating to a death.
