SHUSWAP - The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male member of a hiking party, who died when he slipped and fell while hiking in the Seymour Arm area of the Shuswap Lake Marine Provincial Park on July 3, 2012.

The deceased is Kelly Arthur Parisien, aged 23, from Regina, Saskatchewan.

Mr. Parisien had been hiking near the area of the Albas Falls with a larger group when he slipped and fell into the water. Friends of Mr. Parisien were able to recover him from the water. However, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

A BC Ambulance Service helicopter and Shuswap Search and Rescue personnel attended the scene in order to assist members of Chase RCMP.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Parisien has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.

The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Parisien and its appreciation to Shuswap Search and Rescue personnel for their assistance at the scene.
