The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a boy who died when his cabin at a summer camp near Grand Forks was crushed by falling trees on July 20, 2012.

The boy is Richard Fehr, aged 11, from Christina Lake.

Richard was attending a summer session at Pines Bible Camp, located 8.5 km north of Grand Forks. He was in his cabin when a sudden windstorm hit, bringing down many trees on the campsite. The wooden structure of his cabin was crushed by a tree which fell onto it.

The Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.

Richard's family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.

The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the Richard's family, friends and camp-mates after this tragic accident.
