The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died while falling trees near Port Alberni on Sept. 18, 2012.

The man is Lawrence David McDonald, aged 49, from Port Alberni.

Mr. McDonald was part of a tree-service crew working on private property where the owner had requested that a number of trees be cut down. He was falling a tree when something went wrong, He was found by co-workers within a few minutes of the incident occurring and was being transported to hospital when he became unresponsive. Resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful.

The BC Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC are continuing to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. McDonald has been notified. The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr. McDonald.
