The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a police shooting in Vancouver on Oct. 29, 2012.
The man is Christopher Lewis Ray, aged 52, who had been residing in Vancouver.
On the evening of Oct. 29, 2012, Vancouver Police responded to a complaint of windows being broken in the 400-block Skeena Street near the McDonald's restaurant at Hastings and Cassiar. In the ensuing interaction with police, Mr. Ray was shot.
Mr. Ray was transported from the scene to Vancouver General Hospital but could not be resuscitated.
The Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Ray has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
