The BC Coroners Service has announced new dates for a public inquest into the deaths of Mr. Chul Lee, Mr. Kwang Cha and Mr. Chungjic Koh.
On Jan. 19, 2011, Mr. Lee was driving a vehicle carrying Mr. Cha and Mr. Koh. The vehicle was southbound on Highway 95 north of Brisco when it was struck on two occasions by two separate trucks.
The inquest is scheduled from March 25 until March 28, 2013.
Presiding coroner T. E. Chico Newell and a jury will hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses to determine the facts surrounding this death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future.
An inquest is a formal court process that allows for public presentation of evidence relating to a death. The British Columbia Coroners Service is an independent fact-finding agency that may not make any finding of legal responsibility.
