The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after being struck by a train in Chilliwack on Nov. 2, 2012.
The man is Robert Jonathan Beaudry, aged 25, from Regina, SK. He was visiting family in Chilliwack at the time of his death.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, Mr. Beaudry was travelling with friends in a taxi which had stopped at a railway crossing at Young Road in Chilliwack to allow an oncoming, westbound CN train to pass.
Mr. Beaudry exited the taxi and was struck by the train as he attempted to cross the railway tracks on foot.
The Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Beaudry has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Beaudry.
