Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement on the passing of Edgar Fosburgh Kaiser, Jr.:
"Our province has lost a leader in business and philanthropy.
"In British Columbia we knew Edgar as a financier and executive in the resource sector, but many more both here at home and around the globe were encouraged and inspired by his compassion and generosity.
"In his business career, he held a number of senior corporate positions. He served as CEO of Kaiser Resources Ltd and in the mid-1980s, as chairman and CEO of the Bank of British Columbia.
"He established the Kaiser Foundation in 1986, to promote awareness and understanding of mental health and addictions as health issues. Edgar received the Order of British Columbia in 2003 for his support of community, including health and sports, education and the arts. In 2005 he received an honorary doctorate of laws from the University of Victoria.
On behalf of all British Columbians and individuals everywhere whose lives were influenced by him, I extend condolences to his wife Susan and their family."
