Premier Christy Clark made the following statement in celebration of the Lunar New Year:
"As we move from the Year of the Rabbit into the Year of the Dragon, all signs point toward a great 2012 for British Columbians.
"Astrologists around the world agree the Year of the Dragon brings with it great hope and optimism. It is the most powerful and auspicious sign in the zodiac and indicates a positive change from a year of instability to one of prosperity.
"Thanks to 10 years of fiscal prudence, as well as our proximity to growing markets in Asia, British Columbia is poised to flourish in the Year of the Dragon. As we focus on building relationships with our Asian partners abroad, we must also pause to recognize our Asian-Canadian neighbours at home for the vital contributions they have made to our communities, our economy and our province.
"May the Year of the Dragon bring great fortune and happiness to you and your families.
"Kung Hei Fat Choi to all who celebrate!"
