Premier Christy Clark released the following statement on Passover:
"Today marks the beginning of Passover, the Jewish festival commemorating the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt.
"Passover and its many rich customs have passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years, and in all corners of the world.
"Over the next eight days, thousands of Jewish families will come together to acknowledge the bitterness of oppression. They will celebrate the freedom of their ancestors, but also the freedom in which they live today in British Columbia.
"I wish all Jewish British Columbians and their families 'Chag Sameach', and as they say during the Seder, 'Next Year in Jerusalem'."
