Premier Christy Clark released the following statement today marking Vaisakhi:
"On Vaisakhi hundreds of thousands of British Columbians join millions of people worldwide to celebrate the holiest day of the Sikh calendar.
"Vaisakhi is an important reminder of the proud and enduring Sikh culture.
"For more than a hundred years, your contributions to British Columbia and Canada have enriched us all. I commend you on your leadership in the community, and your love of B.C.
"Your participation in business and community life has added to the success of our province, while your vision, diligence and values are clearly seen in the rich multicultural fabric of the province and have made you valued partners in our future.
"On behalf of all British Columbians, I offer our thanks to you and our sincere best wishes this Vaisakhi, as you take part in a celebration with your families and friends that is steeped in longstanding and meaningful tradition.
"I wish prosperity, health and happiness in the coming year, to each of you.
"Lakh Lakh Vadhai."
