Premier Christy Clark released the following statement today in response to the re-election of National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Shawn Atleo, to a second three-year term:

"I wish to congratulate National Chief Shawn Atleo on his re-election as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

"National Chief Atleo has a passion for improving both the economic and social well-being of his constituents across Canada. All British Columbians should be honoured that he represents our province.

"I am confident he will continue to distinguish himself as a leader and visionary, with the ability to make positive changes in peoples' lives. I believe National Chief Atleo will continue to be a strong voice for B.C. at the national level."
