Premier Christy Clark released the following statement on the decision by Dalton McGuinty to resign as Premier of Ontario:

"Premier Dalton McGuinty has served his province and our country with distinction for many years and will be missed around the Premiers' table.

"As the longest-serving Premier in Canada he helped build consensus, always striving to unite Canadians rather than divide.

"He conducted himself with dignity and a generosity of spirit. He deserves our admiration and respect for his tremendous contribution to helping build Ontario and Canada.

"I wish him and his family all the best as they enter the next chapter of their lives."
