Mainroad Lower Mainland Contracting LP has won this year's Deputy Minister's Contractor of the Year Award in Road and Bridge Maintenance for work in the Lower Mainland service area.
The company consistently comes up against challenging winter weather conditions, along with managing some of the busiest highway corridors in the Lower Mainland. It is proactive in meeting these challenges, using sophisticated weather reports to respond to and identify problem areas, especially during freezing events, which are common in the region.
Mainroad responds to customer needs in a timely manner and has been volunteering in the community since the beginning of its contract, donating repairs and upgrades for local organizations.
The Deputy Minister's Contractor of the Year Awards recognize construction and maintenance companies demonstrating excellence in the categories of grading, paving, bridges and structures, and highway maintenance work throughout the province. This year a new category for excellence in safety innovation was also awarded. The 10th annual awards were hosted by the B.C. Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association on Dec. 7 in Victoria.
The award runners-up in the road and bridge maintenance category were Yellowhead Road and Bridge (North Peace) Ltd. for work in the North Peace service area and Argo Road Maintenance (South Okanagan) Inc. for work in the South Okanagan service area.
