Travellers are advised the Mabel Lake Forest Service Road (FSR) will be temporarily closed at the 19-kilometre marker from Monday, Sept. 9 to Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, due to a bridge replacement.
Ministry staff will be dismantling an old bridge that is deteriorating and will replace it with a steel-girder, concrete-deck bridge with a longer lifespan.
Note the Mabel Lake FSR is part of a through road system from Lumby to Three Valley Gap and the closure will obstruct this route. As well, the Cottonwood Recreation Site and several private cabins beyond the closure will be accessible only from the Enderby side or the Trans-Canada Highway on the Three Valley-Mabel FSR.
The Mabel Lake FSR is located approximately 48 kilometres east of Lumby and is part of British Columbia's 55,000-kilometre Forest Service road network that provides access to British Columbia's backcountry.
