The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a motor vehicle incident in Saanich on June 15, 2013.

He was Darcy David Cole, aged 29, of Victoria.

Mr. Cole was the driver and sole occupant of a car that collided with a light standard near the intersection of Blanshard and Cloverdale shortly after 2:30 a.m. on June 15. Mr. Cole was deceased at the scene.

This incident continues to be investigated by the BC Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office whose mandate is to investigate deaths or serious injuries that are potentially police-related.

The family of Mr. Cole has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
