The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died on Dec. 21, 2012 several hours after he was found in medical distress during a Surrey RCMP traffic stop.

The man is Prashant Jasuja, aged 42, from Abbotsford.

Mr. Jasuja was reportedly found unresponsive behind the wheel of a van on 24th Avenue near King George Boulevard just before 01:00 hours on Dec. 21, 2012. He was transported from the scene to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster and was pronounced deceased later that afternoon.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate the circumstances of Mr. Jasuja's death and asks that the media respect the privacy of his family at this difficult time. The Independent Investigations Office is also investigating.
