The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died following a motor vehicle incident near Lillooet on Jan. 17, 2013.
She was Janice Christine Buller, aged 40, of Lillooet.
Ms. Buller was the driver and sole occupant of a Jeep which left the road on Highway 40 about 13.2 kilometres west of Lillooet about 10:40 a.m. on Jan. 17. She was a community-health nurse and was on duty at the time of the incident.
Her vehicle rolled down a 235-metre avalanche chute into the Bridge River. After a major rescue effort, Ms. Buller was removed from the water and transported by air ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. However, she died from her injuries in hospital.
The BC Coroners Service, WorkSafe BC and the RCMP continue to investigate this death. Road conditions were noted to be icy at the time.
The family of Ms. Buller has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
