The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died as a result of a skiing accident near Whistler on Feb. 20, 2013.
The man is Frederik Gordner Husted, aged 19. Mr. Husted was originally from Denmark and had been living and working in Whistler Village at the time of his death.
Mr. Husted was skiing with friends in the backcountry near Blackcomb Mountain when he sustained traumatic injuries as a result of a fall in rough terrain. He was airlifted to the Whistler Medical Clinic and died shortly after arrival there.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Husted has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Husted and its thanks to Whistler Search and Rescue personnel and the RCMP for their assistance with this case.
