The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a motor vehicle incident near Chase on March 4, 2013.
He was Gurminder Singh Manhas, aged 30, of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Mr. Manhas was the driver of a reefer truck that went out of control on a tight curve on Highway 1 east of Chase on the evening of March 4 and ended up in Shuswap Lake. The incident was unwitnessed. The next morning passersby noticed wreckage in the lake and notified the authorities. An RCMP dive team recovered Mr. Manhas' body from the lake on the afternoon of March 5.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Manhas has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
