The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died following a motor vehicle incident near Chetwynd on March 14, 2013.

He was Russell Clare Saunderson, aged 36, of Dawson Creek.

Mr. Saunderson was driving a westbound mail-delivery van which was involved in a head-on collision with a logging truck on Highway 97 near Chetwynd at about 10 a.m. on March 14. Mr. Saunderson was deceased at the scene.

Road and weather conditions were noted to be poor at the time of the crash with heavily blowing snow.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Saunderson has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
