The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an incident aboard a fishboat on June 25, 2013.
The man is Albert Arthur Armstrong, aged 56, from Abbotsford.
Mr. Armstrong was the operator and sole occupant aboard a 32-foot commercial fishboat, which was operating in the vicinity of Port Simpson, north of Prince Rupert, late in the evening of June 25. Other boaters in the area noticed something amiss with Mr. Armstrong's boat, and went to check on it. They found Mr. Armstrong injured and in distress, and immediately called for help. He was taken to the nursing station in Port Simpson where he was pronounced dead.
The BC Coroners Service, WorkSafe BC, the Transportation Safety Board and RCMP are all continuing to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Armstrong has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
