The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a teen who died following a swimming incident at Granite Falls on Indian Arm on June 30, 2013.
He is Marcos Borboa Lara, aged 16, an exchange student from Mexico who had been living in Canada for about a year.
He was swimming with friends at Granite Falls on Indian Arm, a site which can be reached only by boat, on the afternoon of June 30 when he went over the falls and into a swimming hole below. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP are continuing to investigate this death.
Marcos' family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
