The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a tubing incident on the Puntledge River near Courtenay on July 3, 2013.
He is William Frank (Bill) Havill, aged 42, from Aldergrove.
Mr. Havill was tubing with friends on the Puntledge River on the afternoon of July 3 when he became separated from his tube. The friends found him a few minutes later and attempted CPR while awaiting rescue. However, Mr. Havill was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Havill has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
