The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13, 2013.

He is Cory Allan Michael Monteith, aged 31, a well-known actor who grew up in Victoria.

Mr. Monteith had been staying at the Pacific Rim Hotel in downtown Vancouver since July 6.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. on July 13, 2013, he was found deceased in his hotel room by hotel staff. Emergency services were immediately called, but he could not be resuscitated.

The BC Coroners Service and Vancouver Police Department continue to investigate this death. Police have found no evidence of foul play.

The family of Mr. Monteith has been notified of his death.

The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Monteith.
