The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a snorkelling incident in Okanagan Lake near Peachland on July 20, 2013.
He is David Bernard Mulhall, aged 70, of Peachland.
Mr. Mulhall was a long-time diving and snorkelling enthusiast. Late in the afternoon of July 20, he went alone to a beach on Okanagan Lake at the foot of Beach Avenue in Peachland with his snorkelling equipment. He was seen to enter the water, but did not come out. He was found shortly afterwards on the lake bottom and was transported immediately to Kelowna General Hospital, but he died in hospital later the same day.
The Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Mulhall has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
Mr. Mulhall was one of five persons who died this past weekend in BC in water-related activities.
