The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died following a motor vehicle incident near Kitwanga on Aug. 20, 2013.

He was Garnett Matthew Reid, aged 25, of Hazelton.

Mr. Reid was the driver and sole occupant of a vehicle which left the road on Highway 37 about five kilometres north of the junction with Highway 16 in the early morning hours of Aug. 20. The vehicle rolled down a 10-metre embankment, and Mr. Reid was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Reid has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
