The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in an incident on the Cowichan River near Lake Cowichan on Aug. 20, 2013.

He is Harvey William Sandrel, aged 84, from Duncan, whose body was recovered near the Skutz River Falls Bridge.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death. A second person, seen earlier in the day with Mr. Sandrel, has not yet been located.

The family of Mr. Sandrel has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
