The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash near Comox Lake on Aug. 31, 2013.

He was George Leonard Yates, aged 90, from Courtenay.

Mr. Yates was driving an ATV on a trail about 4.5 kilometres from Comox Lake. When he had not returned as expected, family members went to look for him, and found him next to his ATV which had gone nose-first into a ditch. Mr. Yates was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Yates has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
