The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died on Aug. 26 following an apparent fall in Metchosin 18 days earlier.

She was Deborah Elizabeth Hewitt, aged 63, of Metchosin.

Ms. Hewitt suffered a fall on Aug. 8 outside her home and was taken to Victoria General Hospital. However, her condition worsened and she died in hospital on Aug. 26.

This incident continues to be investigated by the BC Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office, whose mandate is to investigate deaths or serious injuries that are potentially police-related.

The family of Ms. Hewitt has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
