The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a fall on the Johnson Street Bridge in Victoria on Nov. 27, 2013.
He was Martin Lawrence Alphonse, aged 31, from Victoria.
Mr. Alphonse, in company with two other persons, was climbing on the superstructure of the Johnson Street Bridge about 11 p.m. on Nov. 27 when he fell a distance of about six metres from one of the columns to the bridge deck below. He was transported to Victoria General Hospital by ambulance, but was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival.
The BC Coroners Service and Victoria Police Department continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Alphonse has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
