The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a motor vehicle incident east of Revelstoke on Dec. 1, 2013.

He was Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, aged 30, of Surrey.

Mr. Sidhu was the driver and sole occupant of a commercial transport truck, which was travelling westbound on Highway 1, when it was involved in a head-on collision with an eastbound commercial transport truck about 34 kilometres east of Revelstoke shortly after noon on Dec. 1. Mr. Sidhu was deceased at the scene. Road conditions were noted to be poor, with ice and snow on the roadway at the time.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Sidhu has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
