The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identities of two persons who died following a motor vehicle incident west of Prince George on Nov. 29, 2013.
They were Akiko Hofer, aged 46, of Burns Lake, and her son, Pierce Hofer, aged 17.
Ms. Hofer was the driver and Pierce the passenger in a SUV travelling eastbound on Highway 16 shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 29 when, about 30 kilometres west of Prince George (one kilometre east of West Telachick Road), it collided with a westbound flatbed truck. Road conditions were noted to be icy at the time. Both persons were deceased at the scene of the crash.
The BC Coroners Service and the RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
The family of the Hofers has been notified of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
