As part of the government's ongoing commitment to issue a meaningful apology to B.C.'s Chinese community for historical wrongs, the Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for the Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism, Teresa Wat, will host the first community forum to discuss the wording for a formal apology.
The first consultation forum will be held in Victoria, Canada's oldest Chinatown and once the major port of entry for Asian immigrants coming to Canada. Minister Wat will engage with Chinese community associations and citizens to identify wording for a formal apology.
