The Government of B.C. and the John Howard Society of the Lower Mainland announced today the official opening of Elliott House, a 20-bed community-based residential facility for men in Abbotsford.

The newly renovated two-storey building is located at 2411 West Railway St. The B.C. government arranged $1.3 million in long-term financing. The John Howard Society of the Lower Mainland contributed $115,075 in equity, and manages and operates the building, providing 24-hour onsite support services to residents.

Quotes:

Darryl Plecas, MLA for Abbotsford South -

"Elliott House is an important example of how strong partnerships result in fruitful housing solutions for British Columbians in need. The men who reside here will not only have the stable housing options to meet their immediate needs, but also access to the support services and care required so they can transform their lives and take positive steps forward. "

Mayor Bruce Banman, City of Abbotsford -

"The newly renovated Elliott House will help to meet a need in this community for the provision of housing and a supportive environment for men in need of help. The John Howard Society brings their many years of experience and dedication to this development which will serve to benefit not only this community but also all those who will call Elliott House home."

Tim Veresh, executive director, John Howard Society of the Lower Mainland -

"The John Howard Society is pleased to celebrate the successful opening of Elliott House with our government partners and the community of Abbotsford today. Our society will bring together years of supportive housing operational experience in order to serve those who live here, allowing them to focus on fulfilling their maximized potential as a member of this community."
