Premier Christy Clark released the following statement after Canadian Alice Munro was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature:
"In a country that has produced so many great writers, Munro has the singular distinction of being the first Canadian to be honoured with the Nobel Prize for Literature. She joins a list that includes world-renowned authors such as V.S. Naipaul, William Golding and Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
"And while Ontario has every right to be proud of her, Alice also left her mark in Victoria, co-founding one of the best bookstores in the country, which still anchors Government Street.
"On behalf of all British Columbians, my sincere and heartfelt congratulations to Alice Munro."
