EGRT Construction, a consortium led by SNC-Lavalin, has been awarded an $889-million contract to design, build and finance the Evergreen Line.
The Evergreen Line will be the newest rapid transit project in Metro Vancouver, creating 8,000 jobs during construction, as well as providing transportation options to families and communities, by linking communities and major centres when it opens in summer 2016.
Major construction is scheduled to begin in February. More information about the location of construction activity will be available in the coming weeks.
EGRT Construction will build the elevated and at-grade guideways, a two-kilometre tunnel, seven stations, power substations, train operating systems and parking facilities, as well as a vehicle-storage and light maintenance facility.
For the duration of construction, a community relations team will continue to work with residents, businesses, motorists and communities to provide current information about traffic and project information in different languages. This community outreach team has been recognized by businesses and the communities for responding quickly and providing valuable information.
Traffic management is a key piece of the Evergreen Line project. Residents, motorists and businesses are notified well in advance of delays or changes to traffic patterns. A toll-free traffic information line and weekly email bulletins about traffic are available to the public.
EGRT Construction includes SNC-Lavalin Inc., Graham Building Services, International Bridge Technologies Inc., Jacobs Associates Canada Corporation, Rizzani de Eccher Inc., S.E.L.I. Canada Inc., SNC-Lavalin Constructors (Pacific) Inc., SNC-Lavalin Constructors (Western) Inc., and MMM Group Ltd.
The final agreement, the project report and the fairness reviewer report will be made public this spring.
