Beginning later today, residents of South Surrey and Langley will once again be able to utilize 16th Avenue to cross Highway 99. Roadside message signs will advise motorists of the overpass route.
The new 16th Avenue overpass is part of the $24-million Highway 99/16th Avenue interchange project, which is scheduled for completion in fall 2014.
Remaining work includes construction of four ramps, the widening of 16th Avenue to four lanes just east of Highway 99 and the installation of a concrete noise barrier.
The project will accommodate local and regional traffic growth, help remove trucks from 32nd Avenue, and reduce traffic congestion at the King George Boulevard and 32nd Avenue interchanges.
