The George Massey Tunnel Replacement Project development team is now in place, with the award of contracts to support engineering, technical and community relations work leading up to construction.

Four contracts have been awarded for project engineers, technical advisors, environmental specialists and community relations project team members. The contracts awarded are:

• Owner's Engineer:
• MMM Group Limited. Contract value: $24 million.
• Technical Advisors:
• Sun Coast Consulting Ltd. Contract value: $22 million.
• Environmental Advisors:
• Hemmera EnviroChem Inc. Contract value: $9 million.
• Community Relations:
• Lucent Strategies Inc. Contract value: $6 million.

Engineering and technical work is underway to develop a project scope and business case for a new bridge to replace the tunnel, along with associated Highway 99 corridor improvements. This work will ensure that the project remains on track for construction to begin in 2017.
