Environment Minister Mary Polak issued the following statement today:

“British Columbia congratulates Washington State Governor Jay Inslee for his April 29, 2014, executive order outlining a series of actions to cut carbon emissions, and advance development and use of clean energy technologies. In particular, we are heartened to see a continued commitment to putting a price on carbon.

“For some time, our partners in the Pacific Coast Collaborative - Washington, Oregon and California - have been showing climate leadership in the United States, as B.C. has in Canada.

“B.C. already has taken many actions to combat climate change, including putting a price on carbon with our revenue-neutral carbon tax and becoming a carbon-neutral government. These actions have both enhanced our economy and protected our environment.”
