B.C.’s Environmental Assessment Office and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency will be jointly holding a 30-day public comment period, and public information sessions, regarding revised information requirements for the proposed Ajax mine.
The Environmental Assessment Office and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency are reviewing the proposed mine design changes announced by KGHM Ajax Mining, along with any related changes needed to the Application Information Requirements/Environmental Impact Statement Guidelines. This review also takes into account any advice from technical reviewers including First Nations on the Advisory Working Group. The review is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
Upon completion of this review, the public will be invited to provide input on specific changes to the Application Information Requirements/Environmental Impact Statement Guidelines. This document helps determine the information to be collected by KGHM for an Application to the Environmental Assessment Office and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency. The public comment period is expected to commence in the latter part of November. Specific dates will be announced as details are finalized.
Once the Application is submitted and accepted for review, EAO will hold a 75-day public comment period on the Application.
