Hikers are advised that the Ripple Rock Trail and trailhead parking lot, located about 14 kilometres northeast of Campbell River, will be closed to the public from 7 a.m. Monday, June 16 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
This closure is required for the replacement of the suspension bridge across Menzies Creek and the resurfacing of the trail near that crossing, at about the one-kilometre mark of the four-kilometre trail.
A map of the trail and bridge location can be found at: http://ow.ly/xA8mw
The Ripple Rock Trail takes hikers to an overlook above Seymour Narrows, between Vancouver Island and Maude Island, where Quadra Island and the British Columbia mainland also can be seen.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations thanks hikers for their patience during this bridge replacement and trail improvement project to enhance public safety and increase tourism values.
The Ripple Rock Trail is one of more than 800 recreation trails in B.C. that provides access to the province's world-class backcountry.
