The Prince George Fire Centre has issued an area restriction for the forested area around the Mt. McAllister fire located 56 kilometres northwest of Chetwynd, effective at noon Pacific Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
During the Order of Restricted Access, a person must not remain in or enter the area designated as a restricted area by the order, unless the person:
- First receives written authorization from a Wildfire Management Branch official.
- Enters the area only in the course of travelling to and from his or her residence.
This restriction applies from the 18.5-kilometre mark on the Johnson Forest Service Road north to Dinosaur Lake, west 24 kilometres, south 24 kilometres, east 24 kilometres, and north back to 18.5 kilometres on the Johnson Forest Service Road. The Mt. McAllister fire currently covers 15,847 hectares and is zero per cent contained. There are 162 firefighters, 50 support staff, six helicopters and 35 pieces of heavy equipment currently working on this fire.
