An area restriction order that’s been in effect near fires burning in areas west of Elkford is being amended, effective immediately, to increase public access to those areas and reopen some forest service roads.

No structures or communities are immediately threatened by any fires in the area at this time. However, use of forested areas north of the East White River and the East White River Forest Service Road will remain restricted to protect the safety of firefighting personnel and the public.

A map of the amended area restriction is available online at: http://bit.ly/1qHn9oM

Ongoing bridge maintenance at the 44-kilometre mark of the East White River Forest Service Road may restrict vehicle access. This work is unrelated to Wildfire Management Branch activities in the area.

To report a wildfire or unattended campfire, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone.
