More than 23 kilometres of new mountain bike trails will be built in the Robson Valley, Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond announced today on behalf of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Minister Steve Thomson.
Phase 1 of the Robson Valley Mountain Bike Association’s trail development proposal was authorized by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations’ Recreation Sites and Trails Branch to include 18.6 kilometres of multi-purpose/cross-country mountain bike trails and 5 kilometres of downhill mountain bike trails.
The new trails will be located on McBride Mountain. Approximately 5.5 kilometres will consist of existing trails and former logging skid roads. Work on the trails will start next spring, and continue through the next two years during the phased, multi-year project.
These trails were selected for development because of their proximity to McBride, their low elevation location that offers a longer riding season and because they will provide ease of use and enjoyment for many different user groups and skill levels.
The Robson Valley Mountain Bike Association will be entering into a partnership agreement with Recreation Sites and Trails BC for long-term trail development, management and maintenance.
