VANCOUVER - The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died while skiing on Whistler Mountain on Saturday Jan. 11, 2014.

He is John William Bauer, aged 63, of West Vancouver, British Columbia.

At the time of the incident, Mr. Bauer was skiing inbounds on Ratfink Run on Whistler Mountain. Mr. Bauer was transported off the mountain and was pronounced deceased at the Whistler Clinic. The BC Coroners Service is investigating the cause of death and exact circumstances of the incident.

The family of Mr. Bauer have been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
