The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a youth who died following a longboarding incident in Cedar on Jan. 20. 2014.

He was Ryan Thomas Wallace-Tarry, aged 17, from Cedar, a small community south of Nanaimo.

Mr. Wallace-Tarry was longboarding on MacMillan Road in Cedar at about 6 pm on Jan. 20, 2014, when his longboard was in a collision with a full-size flatbed truck. Mr. Wallace-Tarry was deceased on arrival at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this incident.

The family of Mr. Wallace-Tarry has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
