The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of two men who died following a motor vehicle incident near Chase on Jan. 31, 2014.

They were Mehmed Fazlic, aged 59, from London, Ontario, and Slobodian (Bobo) Katic, aged, 43, from Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Mr. Fazlic was the driver and Mr. Katic the sleeping-compartment passenger in an eastbound semi-trailer which was involved in a head-on collision with another semi-trailer unit on Highway 1 about 2.5 km west of Chase about 5:45 a.m. on Jan. 31, 2014. Both men were deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate these deaths.

The families of both men have been notified of the deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
